Ulrich Thomsen is a Danish actor appearing as Aldrich in the Starz Original Series Counterpart. In addition to a prolific acting career in both film and television, Thomsen is writer and director.


Thomsen has worked with numerous critically acclaimed directors, and is one of Europe’s most sought-after actors, having starred in over 50 international feature film and TV productions.

He was introduced to worldwide audiences with his leading role in Thomas Vinterberg’s 1998 arthouse hit film The Celebration for which he received the Best European Actor nomination at the European Film Academy Awards. This was the first of three Best Actor awards that Thomsen garnered for his performance, including the highly-regarded Robert and Bodil Awards.

He gained a reputation for playing dark, heavy, tough-guy characters after the James Bond film The World is Not Enough

On television, Thomsen starred for four seasons in the Cinemax/HBO series, Banshee in the role of Kai Proctor, an intimidating, local Amish businessman who believes he is above the law. He recently played the leading role of Constantin Rostov in Season 4 of NBC's The Blacklist, opposite James Spader.

Prior TV credits include the BBC miniseries The Virgin Queen and The Company for TNT, which was produced by Ridley Scott.
